multitask [on|off] Default: off
_________________________________________________________________
Display or set NET multitasking. When set to 'on', NET continues
to run in the background when the user has issued the 'shell' or
'!' command. This enables NET to process packets and begin
sessions even while the user is at the DOS prompt.
The disadvantage is increased memory usage, since memory cannot
be allocated by NET due to the presence of the other program.
Thus most versions of NET grab some memory before actually
shelling out and this remains on the heap after NET is re-
entered. Consequently the amount of core memory available drops
significantly the first time a shell is used.
>> Example: multitask on
[See also the 'memory minheap' command].
